The African Food Research Network (AfREN) is pleased to welcome Benjamin Yeboah as a Food Summit Coordinator Intern, where he will support the coordination of AfREN’s Annual Summit and contribute to initiatives that strengthen collaboration across Africa’s evolving food systems.

Benjamin is an Agricultural Biotechnologist and international development professional from Ghana, passionate about advancing sustainable food systems through research, innovation, and knowledge sharing. His interests lie at the intersection of food science, agriculture, and data-driven decision-making, with a focus on addressing challenges related to food security, nutrition, and value chain development in Africa.

He previously worked with GIZ Agri-Business Facility for Africa (ABF), supporting agribusiness development initiatives across member countries of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS). This experience provided him with valuable exposure to international development programs aimed at strengthening agribusiness ecosystems and improving agricultural productivity.

Benjamin also gained laboratory research experience during his internship at the Biotechnology and Nuclear Agriculture Research Institute (BNARI-GAEC), where he developed practical skills in agricultural biotechnology and research methodologies.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Biotechnology from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana.

Beyond research and development work, Benjamin is a skilled communicator and e-learning advocate. He contributed to a winning proposal at the 2025 SNRD Africa Innovation Challenge, which leveraged e-learning tools to support rural agricultural development across Africa. He also has experience managing social media and digital communications for development-focused organizations, helping translate complex development work into compelling narratives for broader audiences.

Benjamin’s work aligns closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to Zero Hunger, Responsible Production, and Sustainable Agriculture.

At AfREN, Benjamin will support summit coordination, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge documentation, contributing to collaborative efforts that strengthen the lab-to-industry-to-trade nexus within Africa’s food systems.
