The African Food Research Network (AfREN) is delighted to welcome Hassana Danyerwa as a Food Animator Intern, where she will contribute to translating food science knowledge into engaging and accessible content that supports career intelligence advocacy and public awareness in food systems.
Hassana is a Nigerian creative writer, storyteller, mental health advocate, and social entrepreneur based in Maiduguri, Borno State. She holds a Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and a Diploma in Computer Science, and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Disaster and Risk Management.
Driven by curiosity and creativity, Hassana explores multiple disciplines and integrates them to create meaningful impact within her community. She is the Founder and Creative Director of FeelNHeal, an initiative dedicated to raising awareness about mental health and creating safe spaces for healing in conflict-affected communities.
Her professional experience includes serving as a Consultant Trainer for a digital storytelling for resilience project supported by United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), where she helped participants use storytelling as a tool for empowerment and resilience. She is also a fellow of the HumAngle Media Foundation, where she further developed her storytelling and media engagement skills.
Hassana enjoys traveling, documenting life experiences, creating meaningful content, and continuously learning. Recently, her interest has expanded into research and knowledge development, a field she is excited to explore through her engagement with AfREN.
At AfREN, Hassana will play a key role in translating food science knowledge into compelling educational content, supporting career intelligence advocacy, and helping promote public understanding of food systems through presentations and hands-on learning activities.
