Dr. Oluchukwu Margaret Mary Nwadi, born on September 10, 1981, in Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria, hails from Ifite-Ani, Nimo, in Njikoka Local Government Area. She currently serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Food Science and Technology at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where she also earned her B.Sc. in 2006, M.Sc. in 2013, and Ph.D. in 2021. Dr. Nwadi began her lecturing career on April 1, 2016.
Her professional journey with the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST) began on May 6, 2006, when she joined as a student member. She was inducted as a professional member in October 2008 during the NIFST National Conference at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho, Osun State. In recognition of her contributions to the field, Dr. Nwadi was conferred as a Fellow of NIFST on October 15, 2024, at the organization’s National Conference held at the Coronation Hall, Government House in Kano State, Nigeria. Additionally, she achieved certification as a Certified Food Scientist of Nigeria (CFSN/6189/2023/00052).
Dr. Nwadi has an extensive academic and research background, with ten journal article publications and thirty-two conference papers. Her review, published with Legume Science (https://doi.org/10.1002/leg3.25), was recognized with the “Article of the Year 2020” award for top downloads. She has successfully supervised seventeen B.Sc. projects and two PGD projects, with one M.Sc. and five B.Sc. projects currently in progress.
For over five consecutive years, Dr. Nwadi has consistently submitted papers to both regional and national NIFST conferences, where she also presents her research. Most recently, she presented her paper on September 11, 2024, at the International Union of Food Science and Technology (IUFOST) conference held in Rimini, Italy.
