Olajumoke Racheal is a visionary food scientist with a passion for redefining food traditions and
ensuring health and safety in the food business. With a multifaceted career spanning over
seven years, she has successfully managed the operations of two thriving food businesses
while simultaneously making significant contributions to agricultural education and community
development initiatives.
With a background in food science, Olajumoke embarked on a journey to revolutionize the food
industry by prioritizing safety and sustainability over profit. As the manager of two slow food
eateries and a spice and herbal tea business, she has garnered a reputation for excellence in
delivering high-quality, ethically sourced products that promote both health and culinary
heritage.
In addition to her accomplishments in the food business sector, Olajumoke is a dedicated
educator with five years of experience teaching Agricultural Science in government high
schools. She leverages her expertise in food science to empower students with practical
knowledge and skills, instilling in them a deep appreciation for agriculture and sustainable food
practices.
Driven by a commitment to address food insecurity and promote sustainable living, Olajumoke
actively engages in community garden projects aimed at fostering food self-sufficiency and
environmental stewardship. Through her leadership, she advocates for the importance of home
gardening as a means to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal 2 of zero hunger, inspiring
individuals to embrace self-reliance and sustainability in food production.
As the National Coordinator of the Slow Food Youth Network, Olajumoke plays a pivotal role in
promoting the organization’s mission of advocating for good, clean, and fair food production.
She actively engages young people in initiatives that raise awareness about food sovereignty
and encourage ethical consumption practices.
Olajumoke is also a member of the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology and
serves as the Secretary of the African Food Research Network (www.afrenet.org). Through her
active participation in these organizations, she contributes to shaping policies and strategies
that address food-related challenges at both national and continental levels.
Beyond her professional and advocacy pursuits, Olajumoke is a nature enthusiast who finds joy
in connecting people with the beauty of the natural world. Through her passion for teaching and
